As many as 19 peacocks were found dead in a field in Andhra Pradesh's Karimnagar district, a Forest Department official said on Sunday.
On Sunday morning a farmer noticed the birds lying dead on the outskirts of Kalvakota village under Medipalli police station limits, Karimnagar Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) J Raja Rao.
It was suspected that the peacocks perished after drinking contaminated water from a nearby pit on Saturday night, he said.
However, an investigation was on to find out the exact cause, Rao said, adding the carcasses have been sent for post-mortem.
