Judi Dench to play Scarlett's mom?

Film-maker Prabhakar Shukla, who is making a film based on the horrific rape and murder of 15-year-old British tourist Scarlett Keeling in Goa last year, claims to have approached Hollywood actor Judi Dench to play the role of Scarlett's real life mother Fiona MacKeown.

When Fiona heard that Prabhakar was making a film, she expressed reservations about its title, Rave Party and also the inclusion of a character that would be based on her late daughter. The script of the film has been sent to her by Prabhakar and is awaiting an approval from her side. In the meanwhile, the director claims he has approached Judi Dench through a common friend, to play Fiona's role. "The film is about a British girl and her mother and what they go through, so casting a British actor is very necessary for the role. Moreover, Judi Dench coming on board would give the film a huge boost."

In February last year, Scarlett was found dead on Anjuna beach in Goa. Police had then said that she had died from accidental drowning. Her mother Fiona however claimed that her daughter was attacked and a second post-mortem was conducted. It was later revealed that she was drugged, raped and killed.
