The industry is abuzz with rumours that south Indian superstar Rajnikanth and Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan have recently shot an extravagant song-and-dance sequence for their forthcoming film Endhiran in which they have supposedly changed around 150 costumes. The five-minute long song has been choreographed by Prabhu Deva and has taken over 20 days to shoot. Reportedly, it has cost Rs 30 crore to shoot the sequence.
An insider reveals: “There’s lot of drama in the song, trademark Rajnikanth mannerisms and lot of grandeur in terms of the number of styles that have been used to deck up the two actors. Approximately 150 different styles can be seen.”
Directed by S Shankar, Endhiran is an ambitious sci-fi project which is leaving no stones unturned to make it the biggest Indian film ever. The cast of the film has already revealed that the budget of the movie is around Rs 175 crore, which makes it the costliest ever film made in India.

There are other USP’s of the film — the director had earlier hired over 1,000 dancers for another exotic song-and-dance routine. In terms of professional dancers hired for a song sequence, this is definitely one of the grandest ever. It also had one of the strictest security blanket on the sets with around 50 security guards always deployed to guard the stars.
Endhiran is based on the work of the late writer Sujatha’s novels En Iniya Iyanthira and Jeeno. Shankar has previously directed Rajnikanth in Sivaji: The Boss. Rajnikanth plays a double role in Endhiran and essays characters of a famous scientist as well as the robot he creates. The film is set in 2200 AD.

The plot sees Rajnikanth — the best scientist of the country — being given an important mission of creating robots which will make the living of human races easier. But trouble starts after Rajnikanth makes the robot. Veteran actor Danny Denzongpa plays the antagonist in the film.
