Pamphlets defaming CR Patil seized

Pamphlets defaming CR Patil, the BJP candidate for Navsari LS seat, were seized from a printing press at Salabatpura here late on Monday night, while two people were arrested for distributing such pamphlets at Limbayat. The pamphlets and a car were seized by the police and a case has been registered against the offenders.

The city police control room, at 3 am on Tuesday received information that anti-Patil pamphlets are lying at the gate of a printing house at Begamwadi, Salabatpura.

Police rushed to the spot and found bundles of five lakh anti-Patil pamphlets printed in Hindi and Gujarati. The cops also seized 40,000 such pamphlets from a car parked near Pipardi Sheri in Salabatpura. The cops found stickers of the Congress candidate, Dhansukh Rajput, on the car.

According to officials, the car had temporary registration number and so it is not clear to whom it belonged. However, the cops are gathering information from all Maruti dealers  and have also inquired from the RTO how many Alto cars have applied for registration. However, sources said that the car had been purchased from Kiran Motors and belonged to a relative of Rajput.

Again, two people were arrested by the Limbayat police for distributing anti-Patil pamphlets near Madina Masjid, late on Tuesday night. The duo identified as Kishor Rathod and Aadam Kakuji, both residents of Limbayat, were distributing pamphlets defaming CR Patil. A complaint has been lodged against the duo for breaching the model code of conduct.
