Congress on Sunday made a scathing attack on LK Advani, saying that BJP's 'iron man' is actually "weak", "helpless" and a "maum-purush" who is "desperately seeking" the prime minister's chair and "passing the buck" on the Kandahar hijacking episode.

"Advani who claims to be lauh-purursh and majboot neta (iron man and a strong leader) is actually weak, helpless, and a maum-purush (wax figure) as he is not revealing the truth and passing the buck on either the party or then prime minister AB Vajpayee for release of terrorists," AICC spokesman Abhishek Manu Singhvi told reporters here.

Citing Advani's book and an interview to a news channel, he said it was deplorable that the BJP leader, who was then the home minister, was not aware of the decision taken by the Vajpayee government on Kandahar.

Referring to a statement by former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Farooq Abdullah, he said, "as per Abdullah, Advaniji called him a couple of times that the terrorists be released as it was decided by the Vajpayee cabinet".

"The man who dreams to be PM of this democratic country should not make a false campaign...rather he should be courageous, honest and a person who speaks truth," he said.

"Advaniji ek lachar, majboor aur maum-purush hai, jo PM ki kursi pane ko betab hai (Advani is a weak, helpless and wax figure who is desperately seeking the prime minister's chair ...it is ridiculous that he is not coming up clear on the matter," Singhvi said.
