The BJP has hired some of the best computer experts to help the party candidates reach out to their voters and also to know more about the voting patterns in the respective constituencies with the help of Internet.

About 7,000-odd IT experts, some from the IITs, are attached to the candidates and they provide them information about the caste combinations in the constituencies and voting patterns in previous elections.

The IT experts also coordinate with mobile phone companies to send SMS to voters and ask them to vote for BJP candidates. The team is also sending emails to people asking them to vote for the BJP.

“It is very important to reach out to people during elections. And we want to use the Internet not only to get in touch with people but also to know more about the constituencies and their voting patterns because that would enable our candidates to plan their strategy better,” said a senior BJP leader.

Sources in the BJP also said that most of these IT experts had voluntarily come forward to help us in the campaign and they are ready to be attached to a candidate.

“We have managed to place these IT experts in most of the bigger cities, but the only problem now is that not many are ready to travel to far-off places for the elections. Since these people are already working in various companies, they want to be posted in constituencies closer to their offices. We are making efforts to get more people from the constituencies itself,” the BJP leader said.

The BJP leader has also said that the cost of hiring the experts is around Rs50 lakh.
