CPI-ML (Lib) releases names of its 20 nominees for LS polls

The Left block, comprising CPI, CPI-M and CPI-ML, has sealed a poll-pact to contest 33 LS seats out of 40 in the state.

CPI-ML (Liberation), a partner of newly-floated Left Bloc, on Sunday, announced names of candidates for 20 Lok Sabha seats in Bihar.

The Left block, comprising CPI, CPI-M and CPI-ML, has sealed a poll-pact to contest 33 LS seats out of 40 in the state.

While CPI will contest in eight seats, CPI(M) has to finalise candidates for five constituencies.

Releasing the list, the CPI-ML's state secretary Nand Kishore Prasad said "We are announcing names of candidates for 20 Lok Sabha seats which have been approved by the party's politburo."

When asked why CPI-ML has fielded only three women candidates, the state secretary said "The party has fielded more than what it can .Out of 20 seats, we have given three seats to women which is 15 per cent."

Prasad said that CPI-ML would launch an intensive poll campaign from March 18 from Ara.

Party's general secretary Deepanker Bhattacharya would hold a road show in Ara and Karakat Lok Sabha constituencies from March 18 to 21, Prasad said.

The party would also launch Kisan Sandesh Yatra from Kaimur on March 18 which would come to an end on March 31 in Nalanda, he said and added that similarly Chhatra Yuva Sankalp Yatra would also be launched from March 18 to March 31 in the districts of north Bihar.

Bhattacharya would issue party's manifesto on March 17 in Patna and a joint appeal of the left bloc would also be released the same day, he said.

The CPI would contest eight LS seats for which it announced the names of candidates - Shatrughan Prasad Singh (Begusarai), Sanjay Kumar (Banka), Ramchandra Prasad (Motihari), (M Chandra Jha (Madhubani), Gajadhar Rajak (Jamui) (Satya Narayan Singh (Khagaria), Om Prakash Narayan (Madhepura) and Tanvir Zafar (Sheohar).

The CPM's list of candidates for its five Lok Sabha seats are - Ganesh Shanker Vidyarthi (Nawada), Subodh Rai (Bhagalpur), Ramashray Singh ( West Champaran), Ramdeo Verma (Ujiyarpur) and Balram Singh Yadav (Supaul).
