The duo, Baldev Chavda and Babu Dantani are posted at Shaherkotda police station and were arrested after a complaint filed by one Aziz Shaikh, a resident of Saraspur.

Sources said that on Friday last, Shaikh’s friend Mohammed Ghachi had a brawl with one Javed and was arrested after the latter registered a complaint with the Shaherkotda police.

When Shaikh filed a petition seeking Ghachi’s release, the two constables asked for a bribe in exchange. They even threatened Shaikh that if he did not pay the bribe they would falsely implant him in the case.
Later Shaikh informed the ACB about the police harassment. The ACB officials then laid a trap and arrested Chavda and Dantani while they were taking bribe from Shaikh.
