Maharashtra will overcome the present power shortage within a span of four years, chief minister Ashok Chavan said here on Sunday.

Chavan, who was attending the foundation stone laying ceremony of the 300 MW Reliance power's plant at Butibori near here, said around 500 to 600 MW electricity will be added to the existing capacity following power generation by both the government as well as the private sector.

The 1,000 MW NTPC power project at Mouda and the 1320 MW capacity super thermal power station at Solapur will add to the power generation capacity of the state.
