Yves Saint Laurent once said, “Fashions fade, style is eternal.” And Raghavendra Rathore sure knows about that! Apart from being a fashion designer, he has increasingly started doing a lot of product design and the latest feather in his cap is software design.

Raghu has designed a special software iCarbon for Apple users that will calculate carbon footprints. The software will calculate your personal carbon impact on the environment — pollution from cars and electricity being a major cause of global warming. It’s available for users across the globe on iTunes and is priced at only 0.99 cents (approximately Rs 50).

Says Raghu, “Fashion designers in India need to diversify as much as possible. The fashion business is very small and there is growth only in one dimension, whereas product design and style is a huge spectrum. Ages ago, I had studied electronics and design in London. And designing software is all about combining hardware design and shape to be in sync with the product.”

Raghu is of the opinion that everyone these days is on the green marathon. “It is very important for us to be aware about the carbon generation. This would make us more environmentally friendly.”
