Cops beat elderly woman, son

An elderly woman and her son were reportedly beaten up by police at Garibnagar crossroads on Monday. Riyaz Khan and his mother, who runs an egg-stall, were thrashed by the Rakhiyal police for keeping their roadside eatery open after midnight, sources said. They received serious injuries and were admitted to VS hospital.

According to eyewitnesses, after beating up many shop-owners at Garibnagar, the police team reached Kamadar Masjid area and assaulted roadside vendors.

Sources said, when Khan and his mother went to the Rakhiya police station to lodge a complaint, the police refused to register any complaint.
