Kalupur PI faces court’s ire

Senior inspector of the Kalupur police station, MR Rathod has had to face the ire of the metropolitan court after he failed to appear in court despite repeated summons and search warrants. The metropolitan court has decided to deliver an ex-parte order after Rathod did not appear in court on Tuesday.

Anil Kojani, a cloth merchant in the South Revadi Bazaar, had filed a private complaint in the metropolitan court after he was unable to recover his raw material that was with Rathod. “MR Rathod was in possession of raw material that had been taken away from me by some people who had beaten me up and robbed my shop last December,” he said.

Kojani further said that 10 people came to his shop on December 24 and robbed whatever raw material there was in his shop, and the same group of people had spread a rumour that he was bankrupt. “Kojani was harassed because of a business rivalry. In reality, he is not bankrupt,” Kojani’s advocate, Kailash Tamaiche said.

Tamaiche further said that on the basis of a control message filed by Kojani, the Kalupur police allegedly took possession of the material the culprits had robbed.
However, the material seized was neither produced in court nor returned to the complainant, he said.

Rathod was summoned by the judicial magistrate on five different occasions, including last Tuesday. “The ex-parte order may be delivered next Thursday,” a source close to the development said.

When asked about the development, deputy commissioner of police, zone-3, KLN Rao said he was unaware of the court’s decision to deliver an ex-parte order.

Rathod however said he had been busy with an investigation for many days and hence had been unable to remain present in court. “I will try to remain present on the day of the order,” he said.
