Fashion on wheels

The Mercedes Trophy is celebrating its ninth edition this year. The evening event will be one of high fashion, glitz and glamour where the audience will be given an eye full of haute couture from some of the top fashion designers of the country. In the past designers like Anita Dongre and Wendell Rodricks have designed exclusive lines for the brand. This year, Gayatri Khanna will be the celebrity designer.

Her special line 'Exquisit' embellishes the company's values of luxury, passion, elegance and heritage. Why was Gayatri Khanna chosen? “We as a brand are synonymous with innovation, timeless designs and perfection in premium automobiles. We encourage talent and craftsmanship which reflects in the distinctive line of Gayatri’s,” says Wilfred Albur, CEO, Mercedes Benz India. 

Gayatri says, “While I was designing the clothes, my choices of fabrics and silhouettes were Western and European. I wanted my clothes to have a global appeal.”

“In the world of fashion and of automobiles, design plays a key role for the success of the brand. Thus the association is the most obvious for the brand," says Wilfred. The first regional round of the Mercedes Trophy Golf Tournament has already taken place in Bangalore. Mumbai will follow on January 31 and February 1; followed by Delhi and Chandigarh in the coming days. The national finals will be held in Pune on March 21.
