The droplets of blood fell all over the country: Gulzar

A cool breeze was blowing and it was 26 January
There was a fog in the air, the place was Lahore
The river Ravi was flowing
The court was closed and on the terrace was the Union Jack

The three of them were anxiously glued to the wall
Dawn was still away, one could hear their breaths
Their mission was to lower the English flag
They had decided to change India’s outfit

The victory was on the edge of their spears
And then the bullet hit their heads so hard
The droplets of blood fell all over the country

The cool breeze is still blowing…and today is 26 January
There is a fog in the air
The procession is on in Delhi and right there
The river Ravi is still flowing in Lahore
Zafar still has the danger of getting his head blown by a bullet!
