Munnabhai MP in the making?

Saturday was “Munna Bhai” Day in Lucknow. For, it was Munna Bhai (Sanjay Dutt) himself who arrived here at the head of a roadshow to trumpet his candidature as the Samajwadi Party (SP) candidate for the Lok Sabha election from Lucknow.

However, he later told reporters that he would bow out if Atal Behari Vajpayee were to contest.

“My campaign is ‘Gandhigiri’ and I am here to serve the people,” Sanjay proclaimed at a press conference at the SP office. Asked what he had to say of Mayawati, he said: “I would want to gift her flowers.”  When asked, who would be “Circuit” in his election, it was Jaya Bachchan who replied: “We will all be “Circuit” for him.”

An emotional Sanjay Dutt broke down while trying to plead his innocence vis-a-vis the TADA case.

“My father wanted to hear just once that his son is not a terrorist. But he passed away before I was acquitted. Today, Digvijay Singh has said that I was wrongly accused under TADA. I wish my father had been alive today,” he said.
