Supporters of Ramvilas Paswan's Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) allegedly manhandled staff of a private air-carrier at the Patna Airport on Thursday after the union minister missed a flight.

"A group of LJP supporters stormed the airport and started abusing and manhandling the staff for allowing the Patna-Ranchi-Delhi flight to take off without the minister on board," a Patna Airport official claimed.

Paswan had booked a ticket in Kingfisher Airlines' Patna-Ranchi-Delhi (IT-3335) flight, scheduled to leave Patna airport at 1740 hrs, the official said, adding, "the Minister, however, reached the airport at 1755 hrs."

"We waited for Paswan till 1750 hrs, and when he did not report, the flight was allowed to take off," he said.

"Shortly after Paswan arrived at the airport, his party workers, who were accompanying him, indulged in a ruckus as they heard that the flight had left," the official said.

However, LJP MLA and spokesperson Sanjay Singh said that the airlines had rescheduled the flight timings without informing the passengers.
