Bihar govt considering raising ATS

The NDA government in Bihar is mulling raising anti-terrorist squads (ATS) to effectively handle any sinister designs of terrorists to create disturbances in the state.

PATNA: The NDA government in Bihar is mulling raising anti-terrorist squads (ATS) to effectively handle any sinister designs of terrorists to create disturbances in the state.
    
Informing this, state Energy Minister Vijendra Prasad Yadav, while replying, on behalf of the state government, to a call-attention notice of Kishore Kumar (Ind), informed the state assembly that the proposal with regard to raising ATS was "under consideration".
    
"We will also contact the Centre on the issue," he said, adding at present, the Special Task Force (STF), Special Auxilliary Police (SAP), Bihar Military Police (BMP) and District Armed Police (DAP) personnel were taking care of law and order problems.
    
Later, talking to reporters, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said the state government would take up the matter with the Centre.
