NEW DELHI: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has a "very good chance of winning" the Delhi elections, says senior leader Arun Jaitley, who is in charge of the party's campaign in the national capital.

"Certainly, we have a very good chance of winning," Jaitley said.

He said the BJP was confident of unseating the 10-year-old Sheila Dikshit government of the Congress, with slogans such as "Mehengi Padi Congress" (The Congress at what cost?).

"The objective is to convince the people, who are unhappy with the Congress on every front, be it the prices, water, electricity, roads, transport or terrorism, to vote for BJP," said Jaitley.

A lawyer by training, Jaitley is considered one of the best campaign managers in the BJP. He was the brains behind the party's winning campaign in Gujarat last year.

Asked what the BJP had to offer to the people, Jaitley said: "The party will release its manifesto tomorrow (Tuesday). It will have promises for the people."

The manifesto will also "announce something" for the poor, he said.

On the terrorism plank the BJP is using to target the ruling party, Jaitley said: "The BJP is strongly against terrorism and not in favour of linking terrorism with vote bank politics."

Asked about the linking of Hindu suspects to the Sep 29 Malegaon bombing, Jaitley said: "Let us wait for the final word. How much of it is real and how much is propaganda, we will come to know."

The Congress has ruled Delhi since 1998 and is hoping for a third five-year term. Eager to take power, the BJP has projected VK Malhotra, one of its veterans, as the city's chief ministerial candidate.
