'No scope for third party interference in Kashmir'

    
NEW DELHI: Asserting that there was no scope or necessity for third party interference on the Kashmir issue, the CPI(M) on Friday said the government, which agreed to this, should continue to maintain that stand.
    
"It is the CPI(M)'s position and the government's also that Kashmir dispute is a bilateral issue between India and Pakistan. There is neither the scope, nor the necessity, for third party interference," the party's Politburo member Sitaram Yechury said.
    
He was responding to questions on reports that US President-elect Barack Obama would depute former President Bill Clinton as a mediator on Kashmir.
    
"Let us wait for a some more days for a formal announcement," Yechury said.
