Three arrested, huge cache of arms seized

CUTTACK (Orissa): Police arrested three gunrunners, including a woman, from a city hotel and a huge cache of arms and ammunition was seized from them.
    
"All three arms dealers belong to Munger area of Bihar and are veterans in the trade having visited the city on several occasions earlier to deliver illegal consignments," City DCP A N Sinha said on Tuesday.
    
Nine single-shot pistols, four sophisticated Mousers pistols and four revolvers (sixer) were seized from them, police said.
    
Investigations were on to trace the customers of these gunrunners, who had probably placed orders for these consignments. A single shot pistol costs around Rs 1000 in the grey market while a sixer is priced around Rs 5000 while a Mouser costs between Rs 15,000 and Rs 20,000.
    
This is perhaps the biggest arms haul in the city, the DCP said, adding that the police had arrested last year a gunrunner from West Bengal from whom seven Mousers, as many magazines, a single-shot pistol attached with silencer and 28 rounds of cartridges were seized.
