Ram Leela attraction

People worship Goddesses Durga (Goddess of power), Lakshmi (Goddess of wealth) and Saraswati (Goddess of wisdom) during Navratri festival. In Delhi, the celebrations include lots of gift exchanging, shopping, and fasting.

Kuttu ka Aata (dough made out of a special seed called kuttu), fruits, potatoes, etc, are some of the items on a fasting devotee's list. Some people, extremely rigid about these fasts, don't believe in sharing or taking food touched by others. Surprisingly, even shaving is sacrificed by a few. Ashtmi, the 8th day, is celebrated by most Hindu families wherein young and unmarried girls are felicitated to worship the goddess. Known as Durga-Ashtmi, this day marks the victory of goddess Durga over the king demon Mahishasur.

While we speak of good over evil and the nine divine nights that lead to Dassera, it'll be unfair to ignore Ram Leelas (A nine day long drama based on Ramayana). It begins with the birth of Lord Ram and ends with his victory over Ravana.

The tenth day, called Dassera, is celebrated by burning Ravana's, Meghanad's (Ravana's son) and Kumbhkaran's (Ravana's brother) effigies after the war between Ravana and Ram. The Ram Leelas’ celebration end with the Bharat Milap, a day after Dassera.
