MUZAFFARPUR: Railway Minister Lalu Prasad and his cabinet colleague Raghuvansh Prasad Singh appear to be in a soup with a police report confirming the allegation of unauthorised landing of their helicopter on the national highway during last year's floods in Bihar.

The inquiry report submitted by the Superintendent of Police, Muzaffarpur, Sudhanshu Kumar in the court of sub-divisional judicial magistrate Sanjay Kumar Singh on Tuesday, has found the allegations against the Union Ministers of landing on NH 28 under Maniari police station during last year's flood without the mandatory permission of the local authorities as true.

"It is true that the IAF helicopter carrying Lalu Prasad and Rural Development Minister Raghuvansh Prasad Singh landed on NH 28 under Maniari police station on August 1, 2007, during an aerial survey of flood-hit areas without any prior intimation to the authorities or government clearance, the report said.

The report, however, termed as "exaggerated" the charge of the complainant Sudhir Kumar Ojha, a lawyer, that he got injured and his motorcycle was damaged due to the suddenlanding of the aircraft.

"The complainant's contention seems quite unnatural and exaggerated," the report filed more than a year after the court's directive, said.

The report, quoting statements of eyewitnesses, said that addressing the villagers Lalu launched a broadside against the Chief Minister saying, "Nitish Kumar is enjoying himself in Mauritius while you (people) are drowning in the flood water. Kill the officials by drowning if any of them visits the area."

The court had on September 10 asked the DGP to seek an explanation from SP Sudhanshu Kumar for unnecessary delay in filing the inquiry report.
