PANAJI: Goa-based Non Governmental Organisation (NGO) has alleged that the State Education Minister Atanasio Monserratte has submitted fake documents of his academic qualification before the Election Commission (EC).

Utt Goenkara, a local NGO, alleged that Monserratte has filed a false affidavit before the EC stating that he has passed SSC while his actual qualification is just eighth standard pass.

The NGO on Tuesday presented the reported copies of Monserratte's qualification from Saint Theresa's High School, Bandra in Mumbai.

When contacted, Monserratte refused to comment on the issue contending that he would speak up at the right time.

The NGO's spokesman Aires Rodrigues, while addressing a press conference, today demanded that Monserratte should immediately resign as State's Education Minister for filing a false affidavit.

Monseratte in his affidavit sworn on May 12, 2007 along with his nomination papers at the last Assembly elections had stated hat he had passed SSC from Saint Theresa`s High School, Bandra, Mumbai.

"The propriety demanded that Chief Minister Digambar Kamat should uphold the respect and dignity of Goans by out rightly stripping Monseratte of the very important Education portfolio," he demanded.
