NEW DELHI: A 22-year-old domestic maid has been arrested for allegedly drugging and looting her two women employers in their south Delhi home, the police said on Monday.

Lucy Minz was arrested from Orissa on Sunday on charges of mixing sedatives in the food Sharan Suri and Saloni Mahajan had at their home in Sarvodya Enclave on May 11.

Suri is an education consultant with the British high commission. Mahajan is a sales and marketing manager with a newspaper. They are from Chandigarh.

They had hired Minz as domestic help through a placement agency around two years ago.

Minz's accomplice Rahul Paul, 22, was arrested here June 3 when he tried to sell goods stolen from the house of Suri and Mahajan. These included two laptops, four mobile phones and five credit cards.

Police said Minz wanted to marry Paul. They decided to loot Suri and Mahajan to overcome their financial crunch.

After the two women fell unconscious, Minz called Paul and both ransacked the house. Before fleeing, Minz tore her police verification papers so that she would not be identified.

The two fled Delhi and stayed at various places in Bihar and West Bengal.

“When Minz insisted on marriage, Paul planned to get rid of her. First he tried to give the same sedatives to Minz,” said a police official.

“Later, he took the laptops and mobile phones from her on the pretext of selling them. They boarded a train going from Asansol to Gaya. Enroute he got off deserting Minz. With all these stolen articles, he returned to Delhi where he was arrested.”
