NEW DELHI: "We will make all efforts to keep the Left parties on board on the India-US nuclear agreement," the Congress party declared on Monday.

"We want to take the Left into confidence before taking a decision at the IAEA (International Atomic Energy Association)," party spokmesman Shakeel Ahmed said.

The government has to conclude the India-specific safeguards agreement with the IAEA for operationalising the India-US nuclear deal. The Left does not want the government to go ahead vis-a-vis the IAEA.

"So far we (United Progressive Alliance and Left) have been functioning on consensus. We hope that further dialogue will provide common ground on the nuclear deal," said Ahmed.
