Godman surrenders after threatening journalists

A self-styled godman has surrendered to police following a complaint from a newspaper alleging that he had threatened their journalists after they published a news report about him.

KOCHI: A self-styled godman has surrendered to police following a complaint from a newspaper alleging that he had threatened their journalists after they published a news report about him.
    
Police have registered a case of trespass and threatening journalists of the Malayalam daily against Himaval Maheswara Bhadranandaji alias Ernakulam Swami.
    
The 'swami', who surrendered at the Central police station here yesterday, was questioned and later let-off, police said.
    
According to the complaint, he had forced his way to the daily 'Mangalam' office here and threatened its journalists,police said.
    
Enraged by a report being published by the daily, the 'swami' along with one of his assistants had gone to the office and threatened the journalists, a senior journalist of the daily said.
    
Another godman, Santosh Madhvan alias Amritachaitanya, was arrested on May 13 and remanded to police custody for five days. Three cases were registered against him including rape of a minor girl and cheating an NRI woman.
