AHMEDABAD: There could not have been a better proclamation of their love for diamonds. After flaunting them on their bodies, women in Gujarat are all set to dazzle garba venues with their diamond-studded smiles.
Women are getting what is called the ‘dental diamond procedure’ to get diamonds embedded in their teeth.
Pedodontist, Malay Mahadevia said, “Youngsters between the age group of 20 and 28 are now going for several cosmetic dental procedures during Navratri. One of the visible trends with girls this year is to go for ‘dental diamond’ procedures. Youngsters get their tooth adorned with a diamond which is non-toxic. This process costs around Rs2500 and so far several youngsters have already got themselves implanted."
Cosmetic dentist from Vadodara, Medha Jain said, two kinds of diamonds —one with bluish glint and another with a whitish glaze are used.
“The procedure to implant a diamond in the tooth lasts for nearly 45 minutes. The diamonds used are medicated and last for a lifetime,” Jain added.
Forum Shah, 22, who has undergone dental diamond treatment said, “Dental diamonds are like jewellery. I opted for the treatment to enhance my smile. Also, every Navratri I prefer to do something different. If I want, I can get it removed later."
Women in Ahmedabad are also all set to pierce the belly with coloured diamonds this Navratri. Tattoo and belly piercing specialist, Chirag Kubavat said, “Women now prefer to get their belly pierced with diamonds that are coloured pink, white and blue.”
Belly-piercing with diamonds will cost anywhere between Rs1600 and Rs5000. Kubavat added that women are also going in for eyebrow, lower lip and neck piercing studded with diamonds.
