BANGALORE: The BJP government led by B S Yeddyurappa is expected to be sworn in on Friday, party sources said on Tuesday.
BJP sources said the party, which bagged 110 seats in the 224-member House and later won over five independents to gain simple majority, had earlier favoured May 28 for the swearing-in. However, "the swearing-in is now slated for May 30", a senior party leader said.
Meanwhile, a gazette notification constituting the new Assembly is expected later on Tuesday, Karnataka Chief Electoral Officer M N Vidyashankar said.
Party sources said the Yeddyurappa government would strive to provide a "role-model" administration that would help spread BJP's influence in other states of south India.
"We have to give a clean and transparent government," senior party leader Arun Jaitley, considered the architect of BJP's win, told the legislature party meeting on Monday, where Yeddyurappa was formally elected its leader.
