MELBOURNE: Former Australian spearhead Glenn McGrath is happy playing in the Indian Premier League and has turned down a lucrative offer made by English county Surrey.

According to The Age, Surrey is believed to have tabled an offer to "guest" him over a three-week period. The deal has been described as "very good" but McGrath insisted it is not enough to tempt him to return to the long form of the game.

McGrath, 38, is currently playing for Delhi Daredevils in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and has been in outstanding form despite a year away from the game since retiring after last year's World Cup.

"They must be desperate," McGrath joked about the offer.

"Playing in the IPL has been a great experience, but it has only confirmed the reasons why I retired. There is no way I want to play county," he said.

"I have been really happy with the way I have bowled, I think it has surprised a few people. However, I am really looking forward to getting home to Jane and the kids. I am missing them," he said.
