KOLKATA: Ferrari's most popular sports car model 612 Sumakha reached Kolkata  on Sunday for a test drive down the city streets. This drive is part of Ferrari's tour to India to create a market for sports car that started in early February.

The team of two has reached Kolkata after New Delhi and Jaipur.

Gabriel Lalli, one of the Ferrari team members, said: "We had conducted such tours in countries like China earlier. India is a popular choice for us since sports car fanatics are no less here as well."

Lalli also said neither he nor his car had any problem to drive down the roads of Kolkata.

The car will be driving across 57 cities of India in 64 days. About 13,000 km will be covered during this tour.

Chairman of Motor Sports Club Ravi Kumar said: "If Ferrari comes to India, nothing else will be better for the country's economy and standard of living. The demand for sports car is rising every day, creating a very optimistic market for such cars."

After the test drive in Kolkata, the team will be leaving for Santiniketan Monday.
