RANCHI: Opposition is building up against a swimming pool Indian cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni wants to build at his dream house.

A resident of Harmu Housing Colony where the house is coming up wrote to Dhoni Tuesday saying the swimming pool would put tremendous strain on scarce water resources.

The resident, BP Sinha, said: "The housing colony faces acute water scarcity. Water is an important part of life. We face acute water scarcity during summer. I would request you to give up the plan for building a swimming pool."

A public interest litigation is pending in the Jharkhand High Court against the swimming pool. Six residents of the housing colony filed it.

The residents had also objected the way the Ranchi Regional Development Authority (RRDA) passed the map of Dhoni's house. The hydrologist report of RRDA has given a clean chit to the swimming pool.

Dhoni is constructing his dream house at the housing colony on 5,000 sq feet of land the state government had gifted. The high court has sought a report from the government about the availability of water in the area.
