Tenants loot landlord, 'drug' him to death

JALANDHAR: A man was found dead in his house here on Saturday as police arrested three of his tenants who admitted to looting him and mixing some intoxicants in his meal.
 
Harmit Thakur, who stays alone in his Gazi Gulla residence, was found dead by his son Sumit.
 
Police said the room was locked from outside and from the foul smell that came out of it, it seemed the murder took place three-four days ago.
 
During investigation it was found that Thakur had rented a room to Raju Alam, Bhola Khan and Sanjay Kumar, who were reportedly absconding, police said.
 
SHO Vibhor Kumar said the three were arrested from Transport Nagar, where they were hiding.
 
During interrogation, they admitted they had drugged Thakur with a plan to loot him on March 4 night.
 
Kumar said Thakur might have died due to overdose of the intoxicated substances.
 
The body has been sent for post mortem and a case has been registered against the trio.
