MUMBAI: Three firecrackers exploded near simultaneously in a junior college in suburban Malad on Monday morning leading to commotion among students in the premises, police said.

Two "sutli bombs" (fire crackers) went off in the toilet of Dalmiya college in Malad's Sundernagar area at around 0815 hours while one more exploded inside a classroom, they said.

Class XI lectures were on inside the college at the time of the incident.

While one student has received minor injuries due to the stampede following the explosion, one more girl was injured as the fire cracker exploded in her close proximity inside the classroom, they said.

"There is nothing to worry and this seems to be a mischief played by some of the students," Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone XI) Makrand Ranade said here.

The college is also a centre for the ongoing Higher Secondary School Certificate Examinations (XII) which are to be conducted at 1030 hours.
