Shiv Sena leaders say the ‘opportunity’ will help ease joblessness

MUMBAI: As the industries in Nashik battle the exodus, political parties have found a new cause to harp on - the well being of industries. But, industrialists, on the other hand, do not seem to take their offer at face value and are instead waiting for concrete help from local politicians. While all are trying to bake their cake while the oven is hot, no concrete help has come from any corner, said an industrialist, summing up local politicians’s new-found enthusiasm for industries.

“I had 32 workers, 27 have left suddenly, my work has almost stopped,” said Hemant Medhi of Kalantri Engineering Works.
“Even if we appoint new people it’s going to be a setback as it will take time to train them. We have orders in hand that are pending and our stocks are over,” said Mukund Kulkarni of SM Auto.

“We can hardly do anything. Many political parties have assured to help and provide workforce but nobody has come forward as yet to work,” said another factory-owner.

MNS leader in Nashik, Vasant Gite, said, “We are ready to help the industry. We are not against those who have settled here and are working peacefully and we never want the industry to suffer. We can provide with the workforce if asked for.”

District leader of Shiv Sena Sunil Bagul in a press release said if the exodus is going to close down a few industries, then the youth in Maharashtra be given the opportunity as that will also help ease the unemployment problem in the district. There are many unemployed youth in the adivasi region of Kokan, Thane, Trimbakeshwar, Nandurbar, Dhule, Jalgaon and also in Nashik. Give such youth the chance, he appealed. He offered that if needed they are ready to provide workforce and assured that his workers will not indulge in unionism and would work hard.

State unit general secretary of the Bharatiya Janta Kamgar Mahasangh Federation (BJKMF) Gopal Patil said, “The industrialists who are Marathi are also tense about the situation. Our effort is to restore confidence in the industry and its people.”
