BEST mows down 55-yr-old woman

MUMBAI: A 55-year-old woman died after she was hit by a BEST bus in Borivili on Thursday. Sarlaben Shivshankar Oza of Carter Road in Borivili, was returning home after visiting a nearby temple when the mishap occurred.

The incident happened near the Borivili Jail on SV Road. “There was a stationary tempo standing on the side of the road. As Oza saw a bus coming towards her, she stood by the side of the tempo thinking that the bus will pass by her,” said police sub-inspector Balasaheb Murhe.

After the bus hit Oza, the driver, Prakash Gavkar, took her to Bhagwati Hospital where she was declared dead before admission. Gavkar has been arrested and will be produced in court on Friday.
