BEIJING: With India planning to bid to host the 2020 Olympics, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Sunday visited the Olympic Village here to have first hand information on facilities China has built for holding the mega sporting event this year.

During his 30-minute visit to the Olympic Village, Singh keenly watched the 30 models of different facilities displayed at an exhibition there.

The Prime Minister, who arrived here early this morning on a three-day visit, was briefed by senior officials on the models like the 'Bird's Nest' (the main Olympics venue), 'Water Cube' (where the aquatic events will take place) and the 'Olympic Green' (the area with plants and trees) that have come up for the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

The exhibition vividly displays the Olympic venues through photos, sand tables and literal descriptions.

The Beijing Olympics will be held from August 8 to 24.
