13-year old rape victim's body handed over to family

VADODARA: Body of a 13-year-old girl, who collapsed in Kalol police station while narrating her ordeal of an alleged rape by three youths in Panchmahal district, was handed over to her relatives after a medical examination, police said on Saturday.
    
The deceased being a minor, it was necessary to conduct detailed medical examination on her for which the body was brought here, said police who had brought the victim's body to SSG hospital for a medical examination following her death on Friday.
    
Three youths - Rajesh Sinh Thakor, Raju Parmar and Ranvirsinh Thakore - forcibly took her into the jungle of Kalol taluka in Panchamahal district and raped her on October 14, they said.
    
The accused, who were arrested later, had threatened the victim of dire consequences if she reported the incident to anyone, they said.
    
Four days after her rape, the girl complained of injuries on her body parts following which her uncle took her to a civil hospital for treatment.
    
The hospital advised them to lodge a police complaint and also told them that they would have to arrange money for the surgery to be conducted on her.
    
Accompanied by her uncle, the girl went to the police station at Kalol on Friday and while reporting the incident, she collapsed.
    
After her parents' demise, the girl was staying at her uncle's house and working as a daily wager.
