Tortured boy stabs father to death, surrenders

JAMSHEDPUR: A 15-year-old boy stabbed his 'tyrannical' father to death 13 days ago, buried his body in their house and surrendered to police on Wednesday.

Irked at allegedly being tortured by his father Charwa Tirkey, a habitual drunkard, Fantus Tirkey snatched a dagger from his hand when he came to attack him on the night of September 6 and stabbed the 50-year old man, police said.
   
However, the wound proved fatal and Fantus buried his father's body in their house at Bagunhatu near Sidgora.
   
The student of class VIII had been attacked as he had objected to his father's habit of drinking daily and beating up all the members of the family, including his mother, sources said.

Before the incident, Fantus had asked his mother and sister to flee. After their return, he narrated everything to his mother and and told her to keep quiet about the incident.

However, Fantus's mother Phoolo Devi, after consulting neighbours, pursuaded her son to surrender to police on Wednesday evening.
   
Following his surrender, a police team went to the house and recovered the body.

Talking to reporters, Charwa's family said they did not have anything to repent as they were fed up with his behaviour. They had asked him to mend his ways several times in the past, but in vain.
