HYDERABAD: A murder case has been registered against K Venkat, son of Andhra Pradesh Congress Chief K Kesava Rao, in connection with the death of a city-based realtor under suspicious circumstances.
Police were in the process of collecting finger prints and other evidence from Venkat's residence in the posh Prashasan Nagar area where Prashant Reddy died of bullet injury on Sunday.
While the Congress leader claimed that it appeared to be a case of suicide, the realtor's family members alleged that he was murdered and the ruling party was trying to "hush-up" the case. "Based on a complaint filed by the family members of deceased, we have registered a case under section 302 of IPC," a police official said.
The incident came as a major embarrassment for the Congress even as the APCC President asserted that he was for an "honest and fair inquiry".
Reddy's death came in the backdrop of the reported differences between Congress leader's son and the real estate businessman over a property matter.
