NEW DELHI: Accusing the UPA government of 'communalising' the war on terror, the opposition NDA on Wednesday asked it to shed "votebank politics" and demanded re-enactment of POTA-type law in the wake of latest terror incidents in the country.

Participating in an Adjournment Motion over government's "failure to contain terrorism" as evidenced by the Hyderabad blasts, Leader of the Opposition L K Advani said 10 major terror attacks had taken place across the country during the last two years, including the Mumbai serial train blasts which he equated with September 11, 2001 strikes in the US.

The government has failed on three fronts - preventing these attacks, investigating these properly and ensuring judicial punishment of the culprits, he said amid repeated verbal clashes between ruling and opposition members.

Advani cautioned the government against following 'appeasement' policy towards minorities, saying it would mean 'appeasement of terrorism'.

To press his allegation, he cited government's decision to have head count of minorities in Army and reservation in Andhra Pradesh and Aligarh Muslim University.

"Let us forget majority and minority while dealing with terrorism. A terrorist is a terrorist," the BJP leader told the government and added "don't have votebank politics".

The notice for the Motion was given by JD (U) member Prabunath Singh.
