BANGALORE: The ongoing crisis in the ruling coalition -- JDS-BJP -- in Karnataka deepened on Saturday with the saffron party expressing displeasure over the 'indefinite postponement' of the crucial Coordination Committee scheduled for Saturday.

BJP leaders took exception to the last minute communication from Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy's office that the meeting convened at 0800 hours stood postponed to a later date.

"The Coordination Committee has some sanctity and decorum. It cannot be taken lightly. The ball is now in the Chief Minister's court," state unit BJP President D V Sadananda Gowda told after brief consultation with some ministers including Deputy Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa.

According to Chief Minister's Secretariat sources, the meeting has been put off as a majority of members of the coordination committee were away from the city.

Kumaraswamy, before leaving for Bellary on an official tour, said that the 'compelling circumstances' forced the postponement of meeting and assured BJP leaders that he would hold the meeting early next week.

At a separate press conference Yediyurappa remarked "I got a message at 0745 hrs that the meeting has been postponed" obviously referring to the last minute communication.

When asked for the reasons behind putting off today's meeting, Yediyurappa shot back "you should ask this to the Chief Minister."

Yediyurappa replied in the negative when asked whether there were any parleys between him and Kumaraswamy to defuse the crisis and declared "the crisis is not over. We are yet to discuss and find a solution."

Kumaraswamy and Yediyurappa attended a series of functions in Kolar district on Friday.

In the wake of BJP ministers threatening to boycott the Cabinet meeting and resorting to a protest on August 23, Kumaraswamy had announced that a meeting of the Coordination Committee would be convened on August 24, which was put off to today and then postponed.
