LG eyes over $2 bn revenue in India in 2007

NEW DELHI: LG Electronics India Pvt Ltd is targeting a turnover of Rs.95 billion (over $2 billion) in 2007, a senior company official said here on Tuesday.

"This year we are targeting a revenue of about Rs.9,500 crore (Rs.95 billion) against last year's Rs.8,500 crore (Rs.85 billion)," Moon B. Shin, managing director of the firm, said.

The company, which launched a series of notebook PCs, desktops and an LCD monitor here, also plans to double its sale of notebooks and laptops to 30,000 units by the year end.

"Last year we sold almost 15,000 notebooks but this year we are planning to sell about 30,000," Shin added.

The company launched two notebooks Tuesday that are in the price range of Rs.69,990-Rs.89,990 and a 3D LCD monitor for commercial purposes priced at Rs.649,000.

The South Korean electronics major has set up two manufacturing units in India in Greater Noida and in Ranjangaon near Pune for mobile phones, colour televisions, microwave ovens, refrigerators and optical disc drives.
