Jobless MBA youth ends life in Thane

Identified as Vikram Raichand Surana, an MBA who hails from Kolkata’s Lake Town area, the youth allegedly jumped off the terrace of his building.

A 27-year-old youth from Kolkata who had come to the city in search of a job was found dead under mysterious circumstances on the ground-flour of Hyde Park apartment in Thane (W).

Identified as Vikram Raichand Surana, an MBA who hails from Kolkata’s Lake Town area, the youth allegedly jumped off the terrace of his building at 7.15 am on June 16. Surana lived in flat C-3/103 of Hyde Park.

Surana was working as an HR Manager with a software company in Singapore, but he quit the job after three months on health grounds and returned to India. He came to Thane, a fortnight ago in search of a job and stayed along with his cousin Rohit Lodha in the Hyde Park flat. Sources said Vikram used to go for morning walks everyday on the building’s terrace.

Lodha had bought a new flat in Thane and all their relatives, including Vikram’s elder brother Vivek and mother, had come to Thane a couple of days ago to attend the house warming ceremony. However, the family’s joy was cut short due to the incident.

RC Patil, senior police inspector of the Kapurbavdi police station, said, “Prima facie, it appears to be a suicide case, though no suicide note was recovered from the spot. Vikram had removed his jogging shoes and spectacles before jumping off the terrace of the seven-storied building.”

A team of Kapurbavdi police station rushed to the spot on being informed and performed the panchnama. A case of accidental death has been registered in this regard.
