MUMBAI: A fag-end selling wiped off early gains on the Bombay Stock Exchange on Monday and the benchmark Sensex closed with a loss of over 82.57 points.
The Sensex, which commenced the day with a hefty gain of 121 points, rolled down on selling by funds in heavyweight stocks and lost 82.57 points to settle at 14,080.14.
Similarly, the wide-based National Stock Exchange index Nifty, after touching of day's high of 4208.15 points, ended lower by 24.35 points at 4147.10.
Selling pressure was more confined to stocks in metal, capital goods and information technology stocks.
