HYDERABAD: Taking a cue from the Left parties, the BJP on Saturday announced its decision to launch 'Bhoo Poratam' (struggle for land) shortly.

Talking to mediapersons here, party leader and former Union Minister Ch Vidyasagar Rao said the party district leadership would lead the 'Bhoo Poratam' movement. He alleged that the government was providing land to big corporates, while the poor were denied land.

Citing an example, he said the 4,000 acres of land allocated to establish a sheep breeding unit at Maheswaram mandal in Ranga Reddy district, was reduced to 1565.20 acre during the TDP regime, which later gave away the entire land to a hardware park through the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (APIIC).

Rao said the APIIC had deposited Rs 5.53 crore for purchase of land elsewhere for the establishment of the sheep-breeding unit. However, after Y S Rajasekhara Reddy became the Chief Minister, his government had withdrawn the Rs 5.53 crore deposited by the APIIC and forgot all about the sheep breeding unit, he added.

Rao said his party would fight for the establishment of the sheep breeding unit, which would provide employment on a very large scale.  He said his party would fight alone and would not collude with other parties, fighting on the land issue.
