15-yr-old girl jumps from the terrace

An argument with her father prompted 15-year-old Manisha Giri to jump from the terrace of her three-storeyed building at Ghansoli on Tuesday afternoon. It was Manisha’s birthday and the teenager was visited by a male friend at her home.

Manisha’s father apparently did not like this and shouted at Manisha and her friend. Her father mistook him as her boyfriend and screamed at them.

Irked, Manisha rushed to the terrace and jumped from there. She was immediately rushed to the NMMC hospital at sector 9, Vashi, at 4 pm. Jayant Kedare, senior inspector of police, Rabale, confirmed that Manisha was diagnosed with multiple fractures in the legs and back bone. He further said that her condition was serious.

“Manisha is in a serious condition and the doctors have told the family to shift her to Sion hospital immediately,” said Kedare. Kedare also said it was case of suicide attempt and ruled out any kind of foul play.

“We investigated into the matter and spoke to the family about the incident. On further investigations, it was learnt from the family and Manisha that it is a case of suicide attempt,” said Kedare. Doctors said Manisha had fractured her legs and backbone.
