Lady judge who supported suspended Pak CJ Iftikhar M Chaudhry transferred

ISLAMABAD: A lady judge in Islamabad, who defied authorities and attended a function addressed by suspended Supreme Court Chief Justice Iftikhar M Chaudhry has been transferred to a remote place, apparently as a punishment.

Civil judge Sajida Chaudhry, who was the first serving judicial officer to have attended Chaudhry's maiden address to the Rawalpindi Bar on March 26 has been posted to Bhakkar, a remote town in Punjab.

Immediately after she attended the meeting, Chaudhry was made Official on Special Duty (OSD) and asked to report to the Lahore High Court, 'The News' reported.

She was the first serving judicial official to have attended Chaudhry's  meeting. Following the trend set by her, a 11 Sindh High Court judges attended a meeting by Chaudhry in Sukkar and later the Chief Justice of Peshwar High Court along with 11 judges attended a meeting addressed by Chaudhry in Peshwar recently.

Already over a dozen judges and judicial officials, including a judge of the Lahore High Court, have resigned in protest against Chaudhry's suspension.
