NEW DELHI: A city court on Monday sent Paramjeet Kaur, who was held on Wednesday while trying to fly to Toranto along with an MP on his wife's diplomatic passport, to Tihar jail till May 4.

Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Kamini Lau remanded Paramjeet Kaur to judicial custody dismissing Delhi Police's plea to extend her police remand.

Paramjeet Kaur and a teenager boy, Amarjit Singh, were nabbed along with Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislator Babubhai Katara just before they were to board an Air India flight to Toronto.

Police said she needed to be interrogated further for clues on whereabouts of the two travel agents, Joginder Singh and Santu Masih from Hoshiyarpur in Punjab, who had struck the deal to send her to Toronto along with the Gujarat MP for Rs3 million, were yet to be arrested.

The court, however, rejected the request and remanded Paramjeet Kaur to judicial custody.

Meanwhile, police remand for the accused MP ends next Monday while Amarjit, 15, has been sent to a juvenile remand home.
