NEW DELHI: The BCCI on Sunday said it was satisfied with the explanation of Sachin Tendulkar and Yuvraj Singh but issued a warning to all the players against speaking to the media directly in the future.
The Board said it had gone through the letters of the two players in reply to the show cause notices issued to them on their remarks on Greg Chappell and would consider the matter as closed.
"We have received the replies of Sachin Tendulkar and Yuvraj Singh. The replies are satisfactory and the chapter is closed now," BCCI Secretary Niranjan Shah told reporters in Rajkot.
"If in future any player speaks to the media, he will be given notice by the Board. Every player should remember that the game is more important than individuals," he said.
BCCI Vice President Rajeev Shukla also said that the Board would treat the matter as closed.
"We have received the replies of Tendulkar and Yuvraj. We have gone through their letters and we are satisfied with the explanation. We will treat the matter as closed," he said.
Asked whether the two players had apologised, Shukla said that he would not divulge the contents of the letters.
The BCCI, in its Working Committee meeting on April 7, had decided to issue show cause notices to Tendulkar and his teammate Yuvraj for breaching the Board's Code of Conduct by making comments in the media on coach Chappell.
The notices to both players with a seven-day deadline were sent on April nine.
Tendulkar had criticised Chappell for questioning his attitude in an interview after India's disastrous World Cup campaign while Yuvraj had backed Tendulkar's views, which had led to a furore.
Regarding the security concerns for the Indian team for the forthcoming Bangladesh tour, Shah said "BCCI has discussed about the security of the players in Bangladesh and we have been assured about that.
"But if required we will ask the Indian government and send a security team to Bangladesh. And if need be commandos also will be sent," he said.
Shah further said the selectors have been asked to watch the all-India inter-state Twenty20 tournament being played in Mumbai and Ahmedabad from on Sunday.
The members of the selection committee are present at both the venues, he added.
