CHENNAI: Petrol dealers would go on a one-day nation-wide strike on April 13 to press for their long-standing demands, including five per cent margin on invoice value.

The Chennai Regional Petroleum Dealers Association, in a press release on Monday, also warned of an indefinite closure from April 28 if the demands were not resolved.

The petroleum dealers were also demanding revision of anti-dealer clause in MDG-2005 in line with the discussions with oil industry.

They wanted no penal action to be taken against dealers reporting higher losses beyond current permissible limits, pending submission of report by the Indian Institute of Petroleum.

Their demands included a marker testing equipment to enable dealers to detect the adulteration in fuel supplied and appointment of an appellate authority where the dealers could appeal against the high handedness of oil company officials.

The Federation of Petrol Dealers in the country, in a meeting in New Delhi has passed a resolution that the government give serious attention to resolve these issues by April 10, failing of which all dealers across the country would resort to a 'no purchase, no sale' campaign on April 13.

An indefinite closure would be launched on April 28, if the oil companies and the Ministry of Petroleum failed to resolve the issues, the release said.
